Which social platforms does iGentitY publish to?

iGentitY connects to and publishes on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and X. TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, Threads and WhatsApp cannot be connected. Facebook requires a Page, and Instagram a business or creator account.

Platforms are connected from the icons in the sidebar, one per platform. Nothing publishes until at least one is connected.

What does each platform require?

LinkedIn works for everyone — personal profiles and company pages both, with nothing special required.

X works for everyone. Posts go to the account that authorises the connection.

Facebook publishes to a Page you administer, and you choose which Page during connection. A personal Facebook profile cannot be used at all — you would need to create a Page first, on Facebook.

Instagram needs three things to be true at once: the account is a business or creator account rather than a personal one; it is linked to a Facebook Page you administer; and Facebook is connected in iGentitY first. Instagram cannot be connected on its own. Disconnecting Facebook also disconnects Instagram.

Why can't I connect a personal Facebook or Instagram account?

This is Meta's rule, not an iGentitY limitation. Meta does not allow any third-party application to publish to a personal Facebook profile or a personal Instagram account — the permission does not exist to be requested, so every scheduling tool on the market is bound by it identically.

The fix is free and on your side: convert the Instagram account to business or creator in the Instagram app, and link it to a Facebook Page. There is no workaround, no personal-account mode, and it is not on a roadmap.

Do I need to connect an account before creating a post?

No. Posts can be created, reviewed and edited with nothing connected. A connection is only needed to schedule and publish.

Why did my scheduled post not go out?

If any platform chosen at scheduling time is not connected, nothing is scheduled and the post stays a draft. Connections can also lapse when a token expires or you change your password on that platform — the sidebar icon shows it, and reconnecting is the fix.

Stories and post types

Stories are Instagram and Facebook only. When you schedule for either, you choose whether the post is a regular feed post or a Story.
